We focus on educational advancement, strive for professionalism in performance, seek improved economic opportunities, advance social legislation and work for the welfare of our industry.    

We organize shows, workshops, exciting community-building events, fundraisers, and in-depth training sessions for our members and volunteers.

Columbus Chapter #4 Member Joins Ohio State Cosmetology and Barber Board

  Yolanda Long has joined the staff as a cosmetology and barber examiner! 


Yolanda has been a licensed cosmetologist since 1996 and a licensed cosmetologist instructor since 1998 . 

    She was a salon owner for 8 years.        

In 2007 she obtained her barber’s license and became a barber teacher in 2017. 

She had been in education since 2001 before joining the Board staff.  

State President receives Liberator Award and the Community Cares Award

Dr. Brenda Kynard-Holsey offers Prevention Education awareness to salon professionals throughout Ohio and National associations. 

Nominated by members of Lucas County Human Trafficking Coalition, for her efforts in fighting Human Trafficking in the state of Ohio/Michigan. This is a high honor, and it means the work is not going unnoticed. 

Dr. Kynard-Holsey is the 22nd President of the Ohio Association of Beauticians, Inc. and she is Toledo Chapter #27

Black History Month Recognition

Dr. Christine Smith, City Council Rep in Canton District 4, was surprised at a recent Council Meeting. 

She received an Honor of the First African American Female

  Majority Leader. 


Dr. Smith is on the Executive Advisory Board of Ohio Association of Beauticians, Inc. and she was the 18th State President.


She is a member of Canton Chapter #28.

National Beauty Culturists` League, Inc. History Celebrates 100 years in 2019

The National Beauty Culturists` League, Inc. (N.B.C.L.) is the oldest and most prestigious African American beauty trade organization for hair stylists, barbers, nail technicians, esthetician, and hair product companies. N.B.C.L. was formed in 1919 in Philadelphia, PA, by a small group of African American cosmetologists and black beauty products manufacturers. In its 100 years of existence The National Beauty Culturists’ League Inc. has been responsible for pushing the fight for State Regulations of Beauty Culture. Today, there are no states that do not have laws regulating the practice of cosmetology. Higher Education Opportunities: The  Institute Of Cosmetology  N.B.C.L., Inc. is the only accredited nationally that offers N.B.C.L. members higher degree programs (Professional Bachelor of Arts (P.B.A.), Professional Master of Arts (P.M.A.) and Doctorate of Professional Cosmetology, (DPC) in Cosmetology, Nails and Barbering. Greek Affiliation through the Theta Nu Sigma National Sorority and the Sigma Nu Theta Fraternity

Ohio Association of Beauticians, Inc. join in a collaborative effort to STAND, Salon Professionals and community wide event to raise awareness about Human Sex/Labor Trafficking in support of    Project V.O.I.C.E.. (Victory Over Intense Circumstances Elevating to Purpose)

Project Voice 5K walk/run is to join together as a community, raise awareness and engage in the fight to prevent and end Human Sex Trafficking.

Will benefit the local Human Sex Trafficking Direct Service Providers
