National Beauty Culturists` League, Inc. History Celebrates 100 years in 2019
The National Beauty Culturists` League, Inc. (N.B.C.L.) is the oldest and most prestigious African American beauty trade organization for hair stylists, barbers, nail technicians, esthetician, and hair product companies. N.B.C.L. was formed in 1919 in Philadelphia, PA, by a small group of African American cosmetologists and black beauty products manufacturers. In its 100 years of existence The National Beauty Culturists’ League Inc. has been responsible for pushing the fight for State Regulations of Beauty Culture. Today, there are no states that do not have laws regulating the practice of cosmetology. Higher Education Opportunities: The Institute Of Cosmetology N.B.C.L., Inc. is the only accredited nationally that offers N.B.C.L. members higher degree programs (Professional Bachelor of Arts (P.B.A.), Professional Master of Arts (P.M.A.) and Doctorate of Professional Cosmetology, (DPC) in Cosmetology, Nails and Barbering. Greek Affiliation through the Theta Nu Sigma National Sorority and the Sigma Nu Theta Fraternity \

In seeking your help, updates and links to the House Reps and Senators. You can send your testimonial opposition letters, because we are in this together and we all must do our best and share with others the information given. OAB is just one part of the solution. This legislation is about more than Ohio law. The entire US is watching these bills, knowing if Ohio falls, that will pave the way for reducing cosmetology hours nationally, there are only two other states with 1000 hours.
The Ohio Association of Beauticians, Inc. have united with Industry leaders from and represent one of five beauty/barber industry associations The Ohio Barber and Beauty Alliance, the Ohio Association of Cosmetology Schools, and the National Association of Barber Boards. (OACS) Ohio Association of Cosmetology Schools’ and Politics Beauty and Barber/Concerned Beauty and Barber Professionals. We need to stay strong and be a visible presence with the legislature.
